Chiropractic teaches that interference to the nerve system can seriously interfere with life function. Interference can be physical, chemical or emotional in cause. Intense physical force can cause vertebra to misalign out of normal joint position which will structurally interfere with the nerve system. This misalignment is called a vertebral subluxation. Our objective in chiropractic is to adjust the spine to allow correction of vertebral subluxations which interfere with brain function, to cord function, to the cell function of the body.

The method used by the chiropractor to correct vertebral subluxations is called a chiropractic technique.  There are three categories that all corrective chiropractic techniques can be classified.  They are:  segmental, tonal and postural.

At De Jesus Family Chiropractic, you will experience a tonal type of adjustment.  This corrective technique identifies the vertebral subluxations as important interference to the nervous system and the “tone” or normality of the full structural design protecting the nervous system.  As David Daniel Palmer, the founder of chiropractic stated, “Life is the expression of tone.  Tone is a term used to denote a normal degree of vigor, tension, activity, strength and excitability of nerves and muscles, as observed in a state of health - the effect of tonicity.  Tonicity determines tone.”  The adjustment experienced is a low force correction to the spine and a balance to the meninges with the intent to allow the spine to correct vertebral subluxations and the nerve system to balance to the optimal tone for function and healing.

The meninges are three structural membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord underneath the skull and spine. The meninges also sheath each cranial and spinal nerve root and protect the brain internally. The meninges protect the brain and spinal cord from inside and outside compression.  Balance of the meninges complements and stabilizes the spinal adjustment and allows more optimal balance to occur.  The objective at De Jesus Family Chiropractic is that you achieve and maintain structural balance for optimal neurological integrity throughout your lifetime.
